WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
This month we
have been doing security & safety awareness, road safety, a bit more of our
plaiting badge and completed our farriery badge. With our farriery badge we
learnt how to recognise when a horse needs to be shod and all the tools needed.
The plaiting badge involved learning the different types of plait and practicing
bobbling up the horses mane.
For our
security and safety awareness we have been looking at a wide range of things
including looking at pictures of stables and identifying things that are wrong,
we each chose a horse and filled in a identification form for them, we produced
a poster on micro-chipping, hoof branding, freeze marking and tack and trailer
branding.
Next month we
are going to finish off the security and safety awareness badge and the road
safety. We hope to start the equine first aid. Over half term we are going to
ride in a simulated road for our road safety.
